Lisle and Chicago, IL – Durham School Services, a leader in student transportation, has donated a school bus to the Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA) organization based in Chicago, IL. The bus will be retrofitted, painted and decorated to become a mobile office to help serve the legal needs arising from the lack of opportunity, and racial inequity experienced within the City of Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois.

Cabrini Green Legal Aid was created in 1973 to advocate for and provide legal assistance to the historical Cabrini Green community due to the lack of legal representation. Now CGLA serves numerous locations across Chicagoland, and with a new mobile office, can continue to reach communities and expand even further.

“This donation will help so many people, as it provides CGLA the opportunity to provide access to justice to communities that lack access to necessary legal services.” said Executive Director Esther Franco- Payne. “The bus will be traveling throughout the county and the state supporting individuals, families and communities negatively impacted by the criminal justice system. This allows us to assist more people in need of legal assistance.”

“Organizations like Cabrini Green Legal Aid can offer communities life-changing support and Durham is always excited by the opportunity to expand the impact of organizations such as CGLA through enhanced accessibility and mobility,” said Djenne Clayton, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for National Express LLC. “Giving back to Chicago where we live, work and serve, along with being a good neighbor, is fundamental to our company’s culture.”
